2018 Preseason Meeting Notes

Below is the information that was covered at the 2018 MOIHA preseason meeting on Wedneday, January 24th, 2018.

Congratulations again to last years champions:

  • CBC (V1), Lindbergh (V2), Columbia (V3), DeSmet (VD2), Seckman (JV), Fort Zumwalt West (C), Rockwood (JH1), Lindbergh (JH2), and Affton (JH3).

Rule Changes/Emphasis:

  • Stick work/slashing – enforcement will be a focus.
  •  Divisions – Tier 1 and 2 combined if less than 8 teams sign up for T1, Tier 3, D2, JV, C, JH 1-3.
  • Reschedule requests – Must request 2 weeks in advance & blackout period the last 2 weeks (Opposing team has first choice of new date).
  • Rosters – Minimum games played to qualify for playoffs increased to 7/Swing players that get locked will require 9 games total between teams.
  • 8th & 7th graders may be used at any level in high school – be smart!
  • 4th graders eligible for junior high.
  • Minimum GPA 1.0 to be eligible for probation.
  • All rule changes will be highlighted on the website before the season.
  • Officials evaluation form - online.

Staff:

  • Commissioner – Michael bell
  • Asstistant Commissioner – Jon Hilke
  • Chief Referee – Terry Farrar

Administrative Changes/Reminders:

  • Roster/registration – will be the same as last year!
  • All forms will be electronic this year.
  • Fees – junior high $1,875 & High school $2,200 (deposit due by binder check/balance by March 4th. Form of payment - cash .and check.
  • Team pictures – possibility same company coming in for playoff week.

Tour Breakout:

  • Dates – March 2-4th  (may play some games on Wed/Thur).
  • Entry deadline – February 22nd.
  • Any junior high teams not playing in tier 1 must play to be slotted in appropriate tiers for regular season.
  • Fee - $375 per team.
  • Rinks –Matteson’s & TBD

Alumni Tournament:

  • December 14th - 16th.
  • Cost is $400/team.
  • Rink - Matteson.

Dates/Rinks:

  • Rinks – All American, Matteson, Midwest, and Fenton.
  • If we see growth in metro east, we will explore Edwardsville ymca.
  • Registration for regular season and tour breakout – Feb 22nd.
  • Binder check – Feb 21st – 6 pm – 10 pm @ Midwest sport hockey.
  • Tour breakout – March 2-4 (may play some games on Wed and Thur).
  • Regular season – March 10th – May 6th.
  • Playoffs – May 7th – 13th.
  • All star game – tbd.
