A hero has fallen…

July 27th, 2008

Local firefighter and former MOIHA player, Ryan Hummert, has passed away while responding to a fire call.  Ryan was a player from Rockwood Summit and continued to play roller hockey after high school.  Ryan was a true hero and was taken away from us far too soon.  Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

This Wednesday there will be a benefit roller hockey game at the All American Sports Mall in South County.  The game is free, but a donation to backstoppers is requested.  Please call 314.487.4625 for more information.

Former MOIHA Players Excelling This Summer…

June 26th, 2008

This summer has been exciting for MOIHA. First, former MOIHA players JP Beilsten and Kyle Gouge are playing well in the IIHF Inline World Championships for Team USA. Former MOIHA stud Philip McRae was drafted in the 2nd round of the NHL Draft by the St. Louis Blues. McRae and fellow MOIHA alums Travis Turnbull and Michael Davies are involved with the Blues developmental camp this week. Come check them out Friday July 27th at the Scottrade Center at 7 pm in the finale game of the camp.

MOIHA is proud of everyone stepping up and catching their dream. Good luck to everyone this summer at AAU, TORHS, NARCh, and State Wars. Make some memories and have some fun.

Thank You!

MOIHA All Star game and Year End Party

April 18th, 2008

MOIHA is happy to announce the 2008 All Star game and Year End Party will be the same night, May 9th at Midwest Sport Hockey. We will have the All Star event starting at 7:00 pm and it will lead into a great night of fun with the Year End party. Plan ahead for a special night when we induct the newest members of the MOIHA Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees are Tom Micks and the Maroon family; Phil, Justin, Pat, Patty, and big Phil. Tom Micks was originally a referee with MOIHA and graduated to the title of Head Referee. Tom set the standard for the refs and was one of the finest guys I have worked with in MOIHA. Micks is now with Fort Zumwalt West as a coach and manager and continues to make a difference. The Maroons speak for themselves. Patty is one of the hardest working moms in the business and she has raised 3 great boys. Big Phil is one of roller hockey’s biggest fans and is also a big reason his boys are all great players. Phil, Justin, and Pat were all essential in making the Oakville program what it is today. You cannot mention Oakville without thinking of the Maroon family. Congratulations to both families. The night will also see the Division winner plaques awarded and the Weekly Award winners drawn. This night will feature food and drinks and a lot of good times. I can’t wait to cap off the season the right way.
